Already getting anxious thinking about having to say goodbye to Jackie Peyton and the rest of the All Saints crew in a few short weeks?  Fear not, NURSE JACKIE fans, because just announced this morning is official word that NURSE JACKIE has been renewed for a fifth season!

Not big enough news for you?  Try this one on for size.  In addition to getting a fifth season, it has also been announced that Peabody Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Clyde Phillips will step in as the new showrunner for the series.  Phillips comes to NURSE JACKIE after a highly successful run as executive producer and showrunner of hit drama series DEXTER, and joins current NURSE JACKIE executive producer Richie Jackson and series executive producer Caryn Mandabach.

What’s in store for Jackie and co. next season?  With everything that’s already gone down so far in season four, and with still three episodes to go, it’s a safe bet to assume that things will only get better and better for our favorite hospital crew.  Production on season five is set to begin late 2012.  Until then, keep tuning in every Sunday at 9:00 PM ET/PT to catch the remainder of NURSE JACKIE season four, only on SHOWTIME.
